Listen Again To The Outside Broadcast:

KFC Turned 60 in Style And Red Rose Radio Brought the Party!

Preston lit up with flavour, fun and fried chicken on June 4th 2025 as KFC celebrated 60 incredible years since opening its very first UK restaurant right in the heart of Preston!

Red Rose Radio proudly partnered as the official broadcaster for this unforgettable Diamond Anniversary celebration, taking over Preston’s iconic Flag Market for a day packed with memories, music, giveaways and finger-lickin' moments.

The square was buzzing with excitement as Rob Charles and Mark Blackman brought the stage to life, while Alton Andrews, Martin Price, and Swanny (Dave Swanton) delivered the live outside broadcast coverage direct from the KFC celebration hub. With sizzling performances, live interviews and unbeatable energy, Red Rose Radio truly showed what real local radio is all about.

KFC pulled out all the stops with a pop-up exhibition of memorabilia, a nostalgic cinema experience showcasing the brand’s 60-year journey, and a tasty showcase of local food producers, including the amazing Spud Brothers.

Station Director Russ Dee shared his pride, saying:

“We were absolutely honoured to be chosen as KFC’s official radio partner for such a landmark event. This proves what real local radio can do when it partners with a global iconic brand. From our presenters to our support team, every member of the Red Rose Radio team smashed it! The atmosphere was electric and full of community spirit and celebration.”

Massive prizes added to the buzz, with lucky winners taking home £1000 in holiday vouchers, a brand-new iPhone (thanks to Spud Brothers!), heaps of exclusive KFC goodies, and of course… plenty of chicken!

KFC turned 60 and Red Rose Radio made sure Preston will never forget it.
